In the fall of 2003, Hugh van der Linden was asked to be in charge of the music at the 12:30 Contemporary Mass at St. Joseph's.  Using some singers from the church and recruiting a few veteran musicians, the perfect cry was formed.  Their mission is to offer parishioners a liturgy that has contemporary, rock & roll based music.

It seems as though this is just what people were waiting for.  The average attendance at the 12:30 Mass has grown from a mere 80 people to well over 300 people since the perfect cry began playing.  Gradually they have introduced some original songs which have been well received by the congregation.

During the summer of 2004, the perfect cry recorded several of these tunes which are on their self-titled demo-CD.  In April 2006, the perfect cry released a full length CD titled "Touching Stars."  It is filled with catchy rock anthems and stirring ballads.
